Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary Malaysia gave every visitors an option to get close to Malaysia Wildlife. The Elephant Sanctuary Tour takes you on a drive through the scenic Malaysian countryside to visit the Kuala Gandah Elephant Orphanage Sanctuary. This conservation centre is the base of operations of the Department Of Wildlife And National Parks Elephant Relocation Team, which assists in the capture and relocation of rogue elephants from across Southeast Asia. Along the way, take in the sight of kampungs that are scattered in abundance here and also see the stalls lining the roadside selling local fruits and delicacies. Once you reach the sanctuary you will learn how the Department of Wildlife & National Parks, Malaysia, continuously manages the conservation of the elephants and its habitats; first you are shown a video of the elephant’s troubles, then watch and join in while handlers feed them fruit. This half-day tour ends in the afternoon and on the way back to the city you can enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.

3 Main highlights for this 1 Day Tour

1. Batu Caves
Batu Caves is a Hindu Temple located at the outskirt of Kuala Lumpur City. These limestone caves are 400 million years old. There is a total of 272 steps leading up to the top of the main cave temple. It consists of three big cave. The world’s tallest Lord Muruga Statue with the height of 42.7m (130 feet high) is located here. This destination attracts a huge crowd during Thaipusam, which is an annual festival for the Indians to pay homage to Lord Muruga. This festival will be celebrated in January or February of every year. This mother nature attraction is the most visited tourist destination.
 


2. Deerland Park
The Deerland Park is a privately owned and managed deer park in Bukit Rengit, Lanchang, Pahang. It is open to public in 2004. It's a place where you’ll find 4 types of deer, ie deer from Indonesia, East Asia, local deer called Sambar and Mouse deer. The park also housed birds such as Golden Pheasant, Crested Fireback Pheasant, Sun Conure and Ferret. There is also local python called Batek Python.


3. Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary 
The Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP) established Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Centre in 1989. The centre is the base for the Elephant Relocation Team, which began the Elephant translocation programme in 1974. The only one of its kind in Malaysia, the team is dedicated to locating, subduing and translocating elephant from areas where their habitats throughout the Peninsular such as Taman Negara. Over the years our team has help to prevent the further decline of the elephant population by relocating more than 600 wild elephants.


Beside being the base for the translocation team and home for a number of residents and orphaned elephants, Kuala Gandah also aims to promote public awareness of the elephant's plight in Malaysia and to support research into elephants translocation and conservation. The centre also strive to educate the public about the importance of habitat and environmental preservation. Visitors are encouraged to view a video on elephant translocation.

    Visitors may view a video on issues surrounding wild elephants, diminishing habitat and translocation.
     
  • Cleaning & Hand FeedingTime: 2.00 pm
    Visitors are encouraged to hand feed the elephants with food provided such as water melon, banana, papaya and cucumber. (For lunch)
